Important Information
“Never before have I been embosomed in scenery so hopelessly beyond description…” - John Muir (Travels in Alaska 1915)
  1. Our roomy comfortable boats make this type of trip enjoyable for just about anyone. Obviously, if you want an active strenuous trip, your conditioning will play an important role. Males, females, couples, families of all ages find the trips equally fun because of the variety of activities.
  2. The best time to visit southeast Alaska is between mid May and late September. May and June usually have the driest days with plenty of daylight as the days are getting longer until June 21st. The whales are returning and animals are out looking for food. Annual bird migrations are in full swing also. July, August, and September are the best for fishing as the salmon are returning in large numbers and starting to migrate up the streams. Bears are actively fishing in the streams as they concentrate on building fat reserves for the winter.
  3. Alaska Marine Charters provides everything you will need to have a great adventure except your clothing, camera and fishing license.
  4. Southeast Alaska is a rain forest environment, so be sure to include good footwear in your clothing list. A waterproof wide brimmed hat comes in useful to help shed the rain. We will provide rain suits suitable for the Alaskan weather. We will also provide a recommended packing list upon your booking.
  5. Our boats are clean, well maintained, roomy, and comfortable. Please make sure your boat shoes have non-marking soles.
  6. Boats are not designed for square hard sided suitcases, so please pack in soft sided cases or duffel bags that make stowing gear easier.
  7. We make fewer trips with smaller groups, therefore we require a 50% deposit within 2 weeks of booking. The remaining cost of trip is due 90 days before departure.
  8. If you prefer our 42 ft Nordic Tug, we can offer a discounted rate if you book all 6 spaces on the boat.
  9. In the event you have to cancel, we will provide a refund if we can re-book your charter. We highly recommend you purchase trip insurance.
